A wonderful project to transform a modest bungalow into a substantial two storey home to host friends & family. The existing outdated lightweight steel structure of the bungalow required structurally designed steels to be incorporated – such that the entire first floor structure is largely independent of the existing bungalow. Adapting through the challenging & changing conditions presented by the COVID-19, on a site with restricted access – the team delivered on their aim to create a bright, modern home – considerate of the local rural landscape…

Works Included:

  • Complete removal of the existing roof structure & temporary support of ceilings below to allow our clients to inhabit the property for the duration of the build
  • Fabrication & installation of 34no. steel frame elements from footings to ridge beam to support the new structure
  • Site built timber frame & cut roof – highly insulated to maximise efficiency of our clients home
  • Organisation & installation of renewed electricity supply to property
  • Design & supply of hot water system to meet demand of enlarged home
  • Full rewire of electrical circuits including modern programmable electric heaters throughout
  • Supply & installation of uPVC windows & doors to new first floor
  • Replacement of most existing uPVC windows & doors to ground floor
  • Full re-model of ground floor to create open-plan living, dining & kitchen space
  • Supply & installation of aluminium bi-fold doors to new rear structural opening
  • Design, supply & installation of en-suite shower room, family bathroom & cloakroom
  • Design, supply & installation of new kitchen & utility area
  • Installation of laminate flooring throughout full ground floor

Works were completed on schedule in March 2021 after 6 months on site
